It was so stuffy in the office sometimes. How can one be expected to nap when the air itself is weighing down on you? Though still somewhat begrudgingly it was times like these a step outside was required. At least that was what Joker told herself as she slowly floated down the street, her legs and arms trailing limply at her sides. It was far too much effort to keep them up, although it was somewhat annoying when they brushed against the ground. She’d have to wash her hands later. More work.
As the girl floated her way down the road, not heading anywhere in particular, several different reactions could be noticed in the crowd. Some stared, curious at the sight of a being capable of hovering so effortlessly in the air. Others took one glance and went about their business, obviously being the more worldly members of the crowd. The ones who had seen it all in a city such as this. However, some took one look at the strange floating girl and went white. These ones swiftly wiped their hands of any conversations they had and moved on. The ones who closed their doors and shut their curtains as she went past. These people were the ones who’d taken notice of the recent announcement of the newest member of Falvadin.
Not that Joker put any thought, or even truly noticed, any of the people around her. It wasn’t like she’d care much even if she had. Through half closed eyes she merely stared ahead at the long street in front of her, wondering how long she should go before heading back and taking another nap. She turned to look back at the tower she’d drifted from. It wasn’t that far behind her. Maybe she should head back now before she gets too far. Even without having to walk it would be a lot of wasted time that she could spend asleep.
Still, she’d been in there all day. Surely it was only proper to head outside sometimes. She had been told she’d get some kind of assignment eventually but fortunately that hadn’t come through yet. Joker certainly had a lot of free time and there was so much she could be doing besides staying in her office. But at the same time doing things was so much work. Plus thinking about all this was already giving her a headache.
Joker flipped on her back in midair and began slowly drifting off to the side of the road. Who said she couldn’t take a nap right here? Bumping gently against the nearest wall Joker fully closed her eyes, hovering pressed against the wall to prevent herself from drifting into traffic. Just a quick nap. Then she’d head back for a proper sleep. It was as good a plan as any.
