Ah, it was a distinctly pleasant evening! The sun was just dipping below the horizon, the sky darkening into deep navy blue with stars peeking out from behind delicate, wispy clouds.
It stood, poised in a tree, one delicate hand lightly rested on the trunk while the other hung limp at its side, wings spread wide and high in a brilliant arch as the fading sun cast watercolor painted shades across its blank canvas of a body. It was motionless, expressionless, simply watching. Waiting. Watching the sun vanish behind the veneer. Head finally tilted up, up, up, gazing at the moonless sky.
And it smiled! The hour was lovely--dark. Fading light. It basked in it--soaked in it, pale flesh growing blackened as veins of ebony began clawing their way across it's form, covering it in a webbing of of black on unblemished white.
Mouth wide, it sucked it in, absorbing absorbing absorbing--this darkness belonged to it. All darkness belonged to it, in fact. Those that used the element of its body were ants. It was truly Darkness Incarnate, and it had no intentions of changing.
Its loyalty lay with those useful--and currently, the Din fit snug into that spot. And it couldn't deny that it was fun. Now now, what to do today? Perhaps, let the children out to play?
It sank to the ground, curling into a shadow of the tree, cast only by the soft and flickering lights of stars, and there it began. There was so much dark here to work with--and the heavy shadows made it that much easier. Pulling them up from the ground, tearing them away, forming them, shaping them. Children, children, oh so many children.
Come little children. Come with me. Safe and happy you will be.
The children ran, spreading out, covering all corners with soft giggles and playful laughter. And Abolish sat, legs folded as it hummed, watching.
Monsters they all were, creeping, crawling. Animals fled. Nothing really remained, sans those foolish enough to be curious, rather than smart enough to leave.
When you see the light begin to fade...its much too late, you can't escape from this Nightmare I am....so close your eyes. Let your light go out. Become me.
It was ever so happy with its favored tune! But sans this, it was bored. Why was nobody ever out to play? It reached, reached its dark claws into the forest deep, gripping, gripping.
BUNNY!
Dragged back to its main body, the bunny had eyes wide with fear, glazed over in horror as it panting hard, frothing at the mouth from terror.
And yet, Abolish pet it so gently, rubbing its' little ears and stroking it's little back until it calmed and relaxed, seeming settled in the grip of the Nightmare of Darkness.
It held no ill-will towards animals--in fact, it liked animals. Especially birds. Birds were never fearful of it, for birds knew of darkness and light in ways only animals could fathom.
And here it sat, here it remained, hoping that perhaps a foolish little human wound wander into this land of peace and solitude and realize that in this place? Here there monsters. And there always would be.
